We spent a night in Tai O, a small fishing village on the west coast of Lantau Island recently. A very beautiful area, known for dried seafood products. remote by Hong Kong standards (about 15 miles from our apartment in Yuen Long).
We took a ferry from Tuen Mun to Tai O, and a bus on the way back to Tung Chung where there is an MTR station. This is very close to the Airport.
Lantau is mainly made up of country parks, but is home to Disneyland and the "new" airport.
